Senate Hearing on MSPRC

Posted date in Jason D. Lazarus, J.D., LL.M. Medicare, Medicare Secondary Payer Act

The Senate recently held a hearing on the performance (or lack thereof) of the MSPRC.  The Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, Contracting Oversight Subcommittee, held a two hour hearing regarding CMS's contracting activities with the MSPRC.  Chairwoman Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) and Ranking Member Scott Brown (R-Ma.) both criticized CMS for allowing the MSPRC to be so unresponsive and for complicating the MSP process beyond reason.

The GAO also issued a report regarding CMS contractors.  On page 53 of the report, it indicates that the MSPRC is not hitting many of its contracting benchmarks.
